The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recognized the importance of living heritage and established the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2003. This Convention aims to promote the safeguarding, protection, and transmission of living heritage and raise awareness about its significance for humanity.
